Super Eagles duo of Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun made history with Rangers as The Gers clinched the Scottish champions for the first time in 10 years on Sunday, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

The Gers moved to within touching distance of a 55th top-flight title on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over St Mirren at Ibrox and the triumph was confirmed less than 24 hours later when Celtic could only draw 0-0 with Dundee United at Tannadice.

Steven Gerrard's side has a 20-point lead with six games remaining.

It is Aribo and Balogun first trophy as players at Ibrox, and ends Celtic's bid for an unprecedented 10th successive crown. They were integral part of Gerrard's winning squad.

Rangers have dropped just eight points in an unbeaten Scottish Premiership campaign so far, with their victory on Saturday their 28th win in 32 matches.

They have scored 77 goals and conceded just nine - only two of which have been at Ibrox.

Rangers' first game as champions will be the third Old Firm game of the campaign at Celtic Park on March 21.

Aribo signed a four-year deal with Scottish Premiership club Rangers in 2019 and made his competitive debut for the club on 9 July 2019 in a 4–0 win over St Joseph's of Gibraltar in the Europa League. He scored nine goals in all competitions for The Light Blues.

Balogun joined Rangers on 24 July 2020 on a one-year contract and made his debut for Rangers a week later, on 1 August, in a Scottish Premiership match against Aberdeen where he impressed during a 1-0 win.

Apart from Aribo and Balogun, an Italian-born English professional footballer with a Nigerian descent, Calvin Bassey also plays for Rangers.

On 6 June 2020, Bassey signed a pre-contract with Rangers, with him due to officially join the club with the opening of the summer transfer window in July. On 9 August 2020, he made his professional debut for Rangers in a Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren as a substitute in a 3–0 win.
