The management of Akwa United football Club has invited all their players for contract renegotiation with the club in Uyo in preparation for the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
According to
the release made available to Sportinglens.blogspot.com by the club's media officer, Mfon
Patrick, the exercise will start from Monday August 24 at the club's camp by 8
O'clock in the morning.
Players and
members of the technical crew have been on break since March 2020 following the
outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, and the management has directed all the
players to report to the club's camp on or before Monday.
"The
players have been asked to come for profiling and the signing of relevant
contract papers and attestation for proper registration ahead of the new
football league season, following the need to renew some of the contracts that
had elapsed when the league was officially cancelled by the organisers early
this month," the release said.
However, new
players who have been contacted by the club have been asked to report with
their agents/intermediaries to discuss personal terms and undergo medical
examination ahead of penning their acceptance documents.
The club's
chairman Elder Paul Bassey said: "While in Uyo, the players will be made
to undergo sessions on the club's Code of Conduct and the ever-changing laws of
the game."
The promise
Keepers ended the 2019/2020 in 6th place after twenty-five rounds of matches
before the indefinite suspension/cancellation of the league by the league
organisers due to coronavirus pandemic.
