Nigerian fans planning to attend next year's World Cup in Russia next summer should be prepared to pay more for accommodation as many hotels have significantly hiked their prices, according to a report.

Nigeria's Super Eagles became the first African country to book a ticket to the soccer showpiece following a 1-0 win over Zambia in their last group qualifying match in Uyo with a match to spare.

Many Nigerians who are expected to travel out to follow success of the Super Eagles next June and July will know the cities to stay after the draw for the finals stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia which will take place on December 1, 2017, in Moscow.

According to research published by the Daily Star, some hotels are charging more than seven times their regular rates during the period.

Five-star hotel Helvetia will cost £770 a night, up from £110, while The Ambassador Hotel will cost £394 a night, up from £80.
Among the cheaper options is the three-star Baltiya, available at £117 a night, up from the usual £40.

The tournament will be held next summer in 12 different stadiums across 11 Russian cities, the first time the tournament has been held in the country.
