Chinedu Udechukwu is not for sale, says Kurfi

By Taofeek Babalola

Katsina United are fully aware that they have a star in their ranks in Udechukwu Chinedu and are not willing to let him leave the club for any price.

The club's chairman Aminu Balele Kurfi said the club is not ready to listen to offers from any local club for the striker who has established himself in Katsina.

Kurfi said the club has nurtured Chinedu to be a top-notch player and thereby warned agents and clubs who are trying to distract him to stay clear of him.

“By the grace of God, Chinedu will lead our attack for the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season. We have given him chance to develop himself to who he is now and this is the time for him to reciprocate it by leading the club to glory. What we invested so much on him and we are not ready to release him to any Nigeria club. He is with us just for one season and he signed two years with option of resigning him after expiration of his contract, as the first option before any club,” Kurfi said to SportingLife.

Kurfi, who is on a two weeks break, said the big clubs in the NPFL are not willing the small clubs to grow, thereby, poaching their best players.

“We have no crisis in our club and we have all our best players intact. We have also sent a request to the new players who will join the old players for the next season. But my worry is about the big clubs in the Nigeria league. Their attitude is not good, they don’t want the new club to grow and they want to distabilise us by poaching all our best players. Let me sound a warning to them that if they put pressure on us, naturally we are going hit back. If we lose a player, they will lose so many players. So I am advising clubs chairmen who are trying to hijack players to desist from such habit,” he said.
