Israel Abia, Ifeanyi Nweke join Rangers

By Taofeek Babalola

The management of Rangers International F.C has completed the signing of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leading goal scorer Israel Abia and Ifeanyi Nweke in a bid to challenge for silverware this season, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

Abia switched to Flying Antelopes from Sunshine Stars while Nweke, who has been in shiny form for Kano Pillars for the past two seasons dumped Sai Masu Gida for Rangers.

The club’s General Manager, Davidson Owumi, said the management signed the two players to use their skills and experiences to help Rangers in the chase for league honors.

“We are glad to have Israel and Nweke here with us. Personal terms have been agreed upon while we have also settled with their former clubs. I am sure that their coming with that of four others will to a very large extent enhance our push for a top finish this season,” Owumi stated.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Abia, who started his career in the Coal city, said: “I am very happy to be here in Rangers to contribute my quota towards seeing that we end the season on a high.”

Nweke, who has been in shiny form for Kano Pillars for the past two seasons, said he is delighted for the move.

“It is a thing of joy to be in Enugu to do my best for Rangers and ensure we challenge for a top finish at the end of the season,” Nweke said.

There are strong indications that both players may be included in the lineup for the matchday 16 encounter against Abia Warriors F.C at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu, this weekend.
