Wikki Tourists Head Coach Abdullahi Adamu has said that his team is getting better game after game despite their 1-0 defeat to Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM)FC in the matchday 28 Nigeria professional Football League (NPFL) game on Monday morning, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The game
which was earlier scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Agege stadium was moved to Monday
morning due to a waterlogged pitch occasioned by heavy downpour in Lagos.
Captain
Kenedium Nelson 55th minute goal was all Olukoya Boys needed to secure all three
points at stake in the encounter.
The former
Green Beret gaffer, who replaced former coach Usman Abd’Allah, said the
confidence is back in the team.
“The team is
getting into shape and we are improving. The players are disciplined and there
are winning mentality in the team now. The players are hungry and ready to move
the team out of the situation we found ourselves,” Adamu told Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
He added: “We
played very well against MFM and we lost the match due to a costly mistake by
our goalkeeper. We supposed to get something from the game but we missed scoring
chances as well. We will go home and prepare for the game against Lobi Stars
with the hope of getting good result in the game.”
The former Katsina
United coach added that his main target is to maintain team NPFL status at the
end of the season, and also getting to the final of the Aiteo Cup.
“The club
did not give me any target but I have set two targets for myself. My first aim
is to sustain the team in the league and finish among the top ten clubs which
is very possible. The second ambition is to get to the final of the Aiteo Cup
competition. All these are achievable if we all play our part.”
