 By Taofeek Babalola

Rangers International FC of Enugu were on Friday morning robbed with the sum of N4, 000, 000 (four million naira) by Armed Robbers ahead of Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup first leg play-off encounter against Zesco United of Zambia.

The club’s media officer, Foster Chime, who confirmed the incident, told SportingLens.blogspot.com that the club’s accountant and cashier were robbed at a gun point while moving the cash from a bank to the club' office located around Abakaliki road, Government Reserved Area (GRA).

According to Chime, the money was meant to prosecute match against Zesco United of Zambia slated for Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.

He said the matter is already been investigated by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The incident happened this (Friday) morning and I don’t want to say much about it because the policemen are already investigating the matter. All I want to say is that the match will go on which is very important to the team. The players should not be worried about this because the management is doing everything in ensuring that everything go on as planned,” Chime told SportingLens.blogspot.com
