Nigeria's D'Tigress beat Argentina 75-70 to record their second Group B win and becomes the first ever African team to win two games in a single FIBA Basketball World Cup, Sportinglens.blogspot.com understands.
The team now advances to the elimination round of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 holding at the Canary Islands, Spain.
Having garnered 5 points, Nigeria will face Greece in the quarterfinals play-off later on Wednesday.
Nigeria won the first quarter 19-13 while their South American opponents rallied round in the second quarter, leading 16-13. The third round was a tie between both teams with 19 points each before the Nigerian ladies took the deciding quarter 24-22.
Nigeria's Promise Amukamara recorded 16 points to be named the country's top performer by FIBA while Melisa Paola Gretter of Argentina finished with 21 points.
Nigeria recorded their first ever win in the history of FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup when D'Tigress beat Turkey on Sunday.
