Assistant Coach
of the National Under 23 team, Imama Amapakabo has said that his side will do
everything to beat Libya in the next month's Africa U23 Cup of Nations
qualifying fixture, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
Already, the
Nigeria Football Federation has opted for March 25 for the return leg, with the
expectation that the Libya Football Federation will opt for either March 20 or
21 for the first leg.
Egypt will
host the 3rd Africa U23 Cup of Nations, November 8-22, 2019.
The former
El Kanemi Warriors manager said the coaching crew had carefully selected best
legs for the clash, insisting that they will give Nigeria best representation
in the tournament.
“We will try
as much as possible to give the country the very best of representation that is
needed, hopefully that we will be able to scale the hurdle when we play the two
games on the 20 and 25,” Amapakabo said.
Amapakabo
had on Wednesday invited 33 players to the team’s camping at the Serob hotel in
Abuja in preparation for the two legged tie.
The first
leg, to be hosted by Libya in Tunisia will hold between March 20-22 with
Nigeria able to choose between March 25 and 26 for the return leg.
He added:
“We have been able to scout most of these players after watching them and based
on scouting reports we have been able to get. Let not forget that the
competition is an age grade competition, and as a matter of fact, we have tried
to look at those players that have been able to play through the ranks in the
previous under age grade competitions.
“Let’s not
forget that this team is like a big team of the senior national team and I
think this is an opportunity for us to be able to see lots of players that can
be okay for the main Super Eagles.”
