NPFL goes on two-week break

The first round of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) ended on Sunday after match day 19 games before clubs embarked on a two-week break, sportinglens.blogspot.com reports. 

The second round will resume on Sunday 18th April, 2021.

Kwara United and Kano Pillars ended first half as joint leaders with 36points each after Sunday matches with six goals distinguishing both sides.

Kwara United maintained its leadership position on the log after a 2-0 win over Nasarawa United at the Ilorin City Stadium on Sunday while Kano Pillars, who place second due to an inferior goals difference, also, secured a 1-0 win over Warri Wolves courtesy of Rabiu Ali’s 61st minute goal at the Ahmad Bello Stadium, Kaduna. Ali scores his 7th of the season from the spot after David Ebuka was fouled by Wolves defender inside the 18-yard box.



Akwa United which were held to a goalless draw by Sunshine Stars at Agege Stadium on Saturday occupies third position with a game in hand.

In another game played on Sunday, Lobi Stars defeated Jigawa Golden Stars 2-1 in Makurdi while Dakkada FC Spanked Rivers United 4-2 in six goals thriller in Uyo.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists walloped Katsina United 3-1 while Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) played a 1-1 draw against FC IfeanyiUbah at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.



However, two matches would be played on Monday at the Okigwe Township stadium, owerri in Imo State. Abia Warriors will host Plateau United in the early kick off while Heartland FC will lock horns with Adamawa United later in the day at the same stadium. The games would be televised on NPFL.TV.

Meanwhile, the League Management Company (LMC) has rescheduled the match day 19, fixture between Rangers International and Enyimba International earlier fixed for Sunday to a new date of Wednesday April 7, 2021.
