Barnabas Imenger goes home on Saturday April 10

Ex-international and former Lobi Stars Team manager, Barnabas Imenger would be laid to rest in his home town of Tse, Audu, Apir, Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State on Saturday, April 10, 2021, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

The former BCC Lions of Gboko died on the 22nd March, 2021 at the age of 48 after a protected illness.

According to a burial arrangement announced by his son, Barnabas Imenger Jnr, on behalf of the family, his final home journey started on Thursday April 8, with a first wake-keep  at No 13 First Avenue off Daniel Amokachi Lane, Wurukum, Makurdi by 6pm.

 

The second wake keep was followed on Friday at Tse, Audu, Apir, Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State by 6pm before his final interment on Saturday at Tse, Audu, Apir, Makurdi at 10am.

 

He is survived by two children, siblings and mother.

Imenger started his profession football in Makurdi with Health Management Board (HMB) FC, and moved to BBL Hawks later to be known as Lobi Bank FC and now Lobi Stars, he went on to play for BCC Lions FC of Gboko, El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri, he was also a member of the senior national football team, Super Eagles of Nigeria. He also played professional football in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Imenger won FA Cup with El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in 1990/1991 and 1991/1992 seasons. He also won Asian Cup Winners' Cup with Al Qadsiah FC of Saudi Arabia in 1995. In 1997, he won CAF Confederation Cup with Arab Contractors of Cairo.

Imenger was part of Super Eagles squad that came fourth in the FIFA Confederation Cup (King Fahd Cup) in Saudi Arabia in 1995 and a member of the Super Eagles squad that qualified Nigeria for her first ever World Cup in 1994.
