AFCON U23: CAF throws away Nigeria's protest

.Affirm Guinea's qualification

The hope of Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles to play in the upcoming U-23 African Cup of Nations in Morocco has finally been dashed after their appeal failed to see the light of day.

The Junior Syli National of Guinea defeated Nigeria 2-0 on aggregate in the final qualifying round but Nigeria Football Federation protested after the game.

One of the Guinea player Alseny Soumah was alleged to have cheated on his age but after a thorough investigation of the documents submitted by the Federation of Guinea Football, it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the player was different.

CAF had earlier on Wednesday disqualified Gabon on player age ground and replaced them with Cameroon but Nigeria’s case was different as they affirmed the qualification of Guinea.

For the competition in Morocco, Guinea is placed in group A alongside Ghana, Congo and the host.
