Super Eagles duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will work under a new manager at Nottingham Forest after the club confirmed the dismissal of their manager Sean Dyche following Wednesday night’s goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Premier
League side announced the decision in an official statement on Thursday
morning, bringing an end to Dyche’s tenure after a run of three consecutive
league matches without a victory.
In the
statement, the club expressed appreciation to Dyche and his backroom staff for
their commitment and efforts during their time at the City Ground, wishing them
success in their future endeavours.
The
stalemate against Wolves left Forest hovering just above the drop zone, holding
a slender three-point cushion over West Ham United, who currently sit in the
final relegation place in the Premier League.
Aina played
the full 90 minutes in the encounter, while Awoniyi remained an unused
substitute as Forest struggled to find a breakthrough.
The latest
managerial change marks the third coach Aina and Awoniyi will play under this season,
following the earlier departures of Nuno Espírito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.
As Forest
prepare to appoint a new gaffer, Aina, who has been a consistent performer,
will aim to maintain his place in the starting lineup as the club battles to
secure Premier League survival while also competing in the UEFA Europa League.
For
Awoniyi, who has endured limited game time, the change presents a fresh
opportunity to impress and re-establish himself after a challenging spell at
the club.
