Nigeria will play Morocco in the 2026 Davis Cup World Group II following the draws held in London on Thursday, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
According to the draw announced by the International Tennis Federation ITF, Team Nigeria will play away to the Moroccans on the weekend of 18-20 September 2026.
Nigeria
progressed to the World Group II following a 3-1 win against Uzebekistan in the
playoffs tie last weekend at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.
The teams competing in World Group II are 13 losing nations from the 2026 World Group I Play-offs and the 13 winning nations from the 2026 World Group II Play-offs.
The
eventual 13 winning nations will advance to the 2027 World Group I Play-offs
while the 13 losing nations will compete in the 2027 World Group II Play-offs.
World Group
I and World Group II will take place over the same weekend as the 2026
Qualifiers 2nd Round, where 14 nations will compete to join hosts and defending
champions Italy at the 2026 Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna on 24-29 November.
All ties in
the World Group II will be played as best-of-five matches, with two singles
matches on day one, followed by the doubles match and the two reverse singles
matches on day two. All matches are played as best-of-three tiebreak sets.
