Wikki Tourists FC have appointed club’s Chief Coach Bashir Saleh to take charge of the team’s technical affairs on an interim basis. Saleh took charge following the exit of the former Head Coach Abdu Maikaba who left the club on Tuesday, citing safety concern and disunity in the team.
Maikaba, in
a letter dated February 9 and addressed to the club’s management on Monday in
Bauchi, alleged that threat to life, both physically and via social media
platforms, compelled him to step aside after consultations.
Saleh will
lead the team to Enugu for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday
26 fixture against Rangers International this weekend.
Saleh, a CAF
B Licence holder, had previously served as Chief Coach of Wikki Tourists under
Coach Garba Ibrahim and also worked with Gombe United under Coach Aliyu
Zubairu.
