Katsina
United’s mercurial midfielder Destiny Ashadi has revealed that his team’s
target in the on-going Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season is to
finish among the top four teams, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The former
Kogi United star said his side is one of the contenders for the league title,
insisting that he and his teammates have all it takes to finish the league
among the best.
“Yes, every
team in the league desires to win the trophy but we are going to have only one
winner at the end of the season. We are still one of the contenders as we are
just seven points behind Lobi Stars who are the league leaders.
“We are very
focused and determined to prove a point and winning the league would be great
but to end the season among the top four teams would still be a very good
achievement as this is our second year in the Nigerian top-flight football
league,” Ashadi said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
The
23-year-old attacking midfielder added that the team is fully prepared ahead of
the resumption of the suspended league.
Ashadi is
the top scorer for The Changi Boys, scoring seven times and providing five
assists thus far this season.
“Yes, we
have left no stone unturned in training, our training has been going on
smoothly and the players are fully ready to punish our opponents any time the
league resumes,” he said.
