Fulham boss Scott Parker had downplayed injury fears about Super Eagles star Ola Aina after the defender was substituted during their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in the English Premier League clash on Sunday.
Parker
replaced Aina for Antoinee Robinson at half-time but said the decision was
purely tactical and the former Chelsea man was not carrying an injury.
“I just
thought we needed a little bit more down that right side and I thought it
worked,” he said.
“It was
nothing to do with Ola but Antoinee just gave us that little bit more going
forward.”
However,
Parker lamented his side’s missed opportunities in the second half but insisted
their point at Selhurst Park was a good one.
Nigerian duo
of Josh Maja and Ademola lookman wasted several chances to earn The Cottagers
maximum points.
Maja had two
decent chances to score and Lookman missed the target when free in the box in
the second half as Fulham drew for the 12th time this season.
“I think you saw a team that came here to win
the game and created opportunities but we fell a bit short today,” Parker said.
“You have to
jab and probe sometimes and I don’t think we did that well enough in the first
half and in the second half we changed it up, created some big chances, but it
wasn’t to be today.
“But I
believe in this team and I am confident we can beat Tottenham on Thursday.”
