The continuing comeback story of the United States Based and Nigerian-born professional heavyweight boxer Enobong "The Nigerian Gentleman" Umohette recorded a new chapter in the city of Monroe Michigan.
Umohette
faced off against Juan "Tactical Dynamite" Silva in a scheduled 10
round contest last Saturday at The Providence Community Center Monroe,
Michigan.
With what
appeared to be tactical battle of wits between The Nigerian Gentleman and The
Tactical Dynamite for the first 2 rounds, an exchange in the final seconds of
the second round, had Silva seemingly hurt and saved by the bell.
Sensing a
vulnerability in Silva's defenses, Umohette's increased attack, ended with a
left hook that floored Silva who could not beat the count and was knocked out
in the third round.
Reacting to
the win, Umohette thanked God for the ability to perform at a high competitive
level despite an almost eight-year retirement and thanked Nigerians at home and
abroad for the support he has received.
He also
thanked his promoter Erik Flemming who monitored the fight remotely and thanked
his management team which consisted of
Rhonda Yates, Veteran heavyweight boxing champion Jeremiah "The Beast'
Williams, Richard Mason and George Offiong.
Since his
return from an almost eight-year retirement in late 2022, Umohette has remained
undefeated in four fights.
With Umohette's
thirteenth career win, The Nigerian Gentleman stated that he is now set to vie
for an IBA (International Boxing Association) heavyweight title in the coming
months and thanked members of the press for continuing to support the sport of
boxing.
