Abia Warriors beat El-Kanemi 2-1

Abia Warriors football club of Umuahia recorded its first win of the current season with a hard fought 2-1 victory over visiting El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in a week two encounter decided at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday.

Youngster, Michael Olaha came off the bench to net the winner in the 81st minute after scores stood at 1-1.

Spectators were still making their way into the arena when CHAN 2016 revelation Chisom Chikatara raised the curtains with a spectacular goal in the 4th minute but the visitors equalised seven minutes after through Mustapha Ibrahim who capitalised on a sloppy defending by the Warriors to make hay.

After the first two goals, Abia Warriors had the opportunity to kill off the game but poor marksmanship denied them on several occasions but Olaha's entry made the difference as the left- footed striker scored from close range to hand Kennedy Boboye his first league win of the season after drawing 1-1 with Ikorodu United in Lagos last Sunday.

El-Kanemi Warriors  finished the game with 10 men following the expulsion of their defender, Aghoha Otakho after receiving a second yellow card in the 35th minute.

In his reaction, Boboye expressed gratitude to God for the victory pointing out that Abia Warriors will continue to get better in subsequent matches.
