By Our reporter

Former Plateau United captain Samuel Kuchili has passed away after a brief illness, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

Kuchili, who died in hospital on Monday, was until his death a Technical Consultant at the Mighty Jets of Jos.

Kuchili started playing for Plateau United as a teenager in the mid-nineties and went on to Captain the Peace Boys for several years.

He also had stints with Adamawa United and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.

In a brief statement released by the Mighty Jets Media Officer, Mbum Ferdinand, the Chairman of the Club, Chief Alex Wukari described the death of Kuchili as a rude shock but said God knows better as he alone decides when to give and when to take.

“On a sad note, the management of Mighty Jets of Jos has announced the passing on of the club’s Technical Consultant, Samuel Kuchili, who died in hospital yesterday (Monday) after a brief illness,” the statement reads.

Also, the President of the Club, Ismaila Mabo released a statement, saying he and the board of founders are in deep shock following Kuchili’s demise.

Mabo also pray that the family will have the fortitude to bear the loss.

Kuchili made his name as a sleek-footed attacking midfielder, one the very best of his generation.

Internationally, he was a member of the Nigeria National Under-17 team, the Golden Eaglets in 1997 under Coach Fanny Amun.

His family is expected to announce his burial arrangements very soon.
