Mountain of
Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC defender Jonathan Zikiye has craved for
the resumption of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as he said that
the league indefinite suspension makes players to be idle, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The League
Management Company (LMC) suspended the Nigeria Professional Football League
(NPFL) due to the leadership tussle in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The former
Wikki Tourists defender pleaded with the football stakeholders to find a
lasting solution to the problem in order not to jeopardise the future of the
Nigerian youths who take football as their choosing career.
“Well, I
think the crisis should be resolved immediately in order not to make youths in
the country idle because football plays important role in the life of Nigerian
players and fans. I must say this; it’s not been easy for us in the little time
that the league had been on hold because we feel like we're idle and there is no
challenges,” Zikiye said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
Despite the
break, the former Kano Pillars defender said that he and his
colleagues have been preparing well for the league resumption.
“We're
training seriously because we don’t want to be caught unaware when the league
resumes. The league might resume anytime and we want to be at our best to
continue where we stopped. The preparation has been going very well. We do a
lot of fitness training and playing warn-up games to build on our fitness.”
