Niger State
government through the ministry of sport on Tuesday announced the dissolution
of the entire Management Board of Niger Tornadoes Football Club, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The eight-man Management committee which was appointed in 2018 was led by its chairman Abubakar
Mustapha Gawu while Mallam Bello Auta Maikunkele served as the vice chairman.
Niger
Tornadoes seated at the rock bottom of Group A with 10 points in 13 matches
with just 9 games to the end of the season.
In a press
statement released by Ministry of Sports Development Niger State, and signed by
the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Gana addressed to the Chairman Niger
Tornadoes Management Committee, Minna, which reads in parts: “The management
and staff of Ministry of Sports Development wish to appreciate and your team
for the efforts in the running of affairs of Tornadoes Football Club since your
appointment.
“This
dissolution is premised on the dismal performance of the club in the current
Nigeria Professional Football League in addition, the seemingly continuous
administrative lapses of the management have reached an intolerable level and
the ministry is left with no further option than to take drastic action.
“The
ministry wishes to thank you for your selfless service to the club and wish you
well in your future endeavours. You are by this notice advised to hand over to
the Permanent Secretary with immediate effect.” the statement concluded.
