Tourists Technical Adviser, Aliyu Zubairu has blamed the University of Benin
Sports complex pitch for his team's 2-0 defeat to Bendel Insurance in the match
day 13 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played on Sunday in
Benin, Reports Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
Osaghae
Junior opened scoring for the Benin Arsenal in the 64th minutes after a barren
but entertaining first half at the University of Benin sports complex, Benin.
Substituted
Adimorama Eze, who came on Charles Omokaro restored Insurance confidence by
increasing the tally in the 71th minute with a fine header to take the game
beyond the visitors.
Both teams
played beautiful football with the visitors' attack combination of Manu Garba,
Saidu Abdullahi and Abba Umar almost caused some heart attacks but thanks to
Insurance goalie sensation Amas Obasogie and the defence network of Efe
Enabulele, Tanimu Benjamin and Daniel Johnson who were up and doing.
The visitors
looked prepared to snatch another away win as they did against Rivers united
last week but the Benin Gunners were better prepared as they clipped the wings
of the Wikki and stopped them from touring their goal area.
Speaking
after the encounter, Zubairu said the bad nature of the field prevented his
boys to play very well.
Zubairu
commended his players for their fighting spirit and charged them to work harder
and ensure victory in their next double home matches against Lobi Stars and
Remo FC.
“You could
all see that my boys were determined to play their best but the bad nature of
the field could not allow them. I want to appeal to the league management
company, LMC to revisit some of the stadiums earlier approved for league
matches so that team can have their best,” Zubairu said.
