Warri Wolves
forward Victor Makalala has said that he and his teammates will work very hard
to get victory against Akwa United in today's Nigeria Professional Football
League (NPFL) opener at Warri Township Stadium, Sportinglens.blogsport.com
reports.
The Seasiders returned to the NPFL after gaining promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season.
Players like
Goodluck Onamado, Julius Ubido, Michael Egbeta, Tayo Fabiyi, Richard Ochayi,
and host of others have been recruited to beef up the team.
Makalala,
who signed a one year deal with the Seasiders, said he is happy that the top
flight football has returned to Warri.
"Akwa
United are big team and they have quality players too but we will show them
that we are Wolves. We want to start our league campaign with a victory and we
will do everything to achieve that," Makalala told Sportinglens.blogsport.com.
He added:
"It is a good thing for the people of Warri that they would be able to see
NPFL matches this season. We have quality to play in the league. The management
under Moses Etu and our head coach has done well by bringing in quality players
to the team.
"We are
appealing to our fans to always come to the stadium to support the team. We
need their prayer and support and we promise them that we won't disappoint
them."
