Super Eagles
forward Ahmed Musa has emerged the Man of the Match following his wonderful
display in his team’s 2-0 win over Iceland in the World Cup Group D second game on
Friday, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
Musa’s double earned Nigeria a deserved win over Iceland and moved to second position in the Group D behind Croatia.
Nigeria had
offered nothing during the opening 45 minutes but the Super Eagles quickly
opened the scoring at the start of the second half, with Victor Moses bursting
down the right before finding Musa who took a touch before lashing a
half-volley into the roof of the net from 12 yards.
Leicester
City man netted a sublime second as he outpaced Karl Arnason and rounded goalkeeper
Halldorsson before firing into an empty net.
The former
Kano Pillars forward was rewarded for his excellent outing for the Super Eagles
in today’s game by the Man of the Match award.
Musa became
the first Nigeria player to score four goals at the World Cup.
He scored
brace at the 2014 in Brazil and netted double against Iceland today in Russia.
