Super Eagles
forward Alex Iwobi has assured Nigerians that the team will do well at the World
Cup in Russia despite their 2-1 defeat to England in Saturday’s international friendly game at
the Wembley Stadium, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
England
capitalised on an error-strewn first-half performance by Nigeria as Gary Cahill
and captain Harry Kane put them ahead before Alex Iwobi pulled one back for the
Super Eagles.
The Arsenal
star became the first Nigerian to score against England in a senior
international football match.
Iwobi insists
there were positives in the match but not the result they wanted.
“Love to all
the Naija supporters that came out to Wembley today and to all the Nigerian’s
supporting around the world. Not the result we wanted but we push forward to Russia,”
Iwobi twitted after the game.
