2019/2020 NPFL: Plateau United, Wikki Tourists win away to maintain perfect start

It was a very exciting weekend in the matchday two of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as Plateau United and Wikki Tourists recorded victories on the road to amass maximum six points each after two games.


Plateau United defeated Jigawa Golden Stars 1-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium to maintain their perfect stat to the new campaign. Nenrot Silas scored the decisive goal for the visitors in the 34th minute following a defensive blunder from Abdullahi Musa and goalkeeper Suleiman Abdullahi. It was Silas second goal of the season. 

Wikki Tourists Acting Technical Adviser Garba Ibrahim proved why he is the right man for the team when he led the Big Elephant to another victory against Nasarawa United at the Lafia Township Stadium on Sunday. Sixtus Forsah 80th minute goal was all Wikki Tourists needed to win their back-to-back victory on Sunday.

Lobi Stars bounced back to wining way after their matchday one 3-1 loss to Plateau United in Jos last weekend. The coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored side walloped Delta Force 4-0 at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi this evening.

The game between Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) FC of Lagos and FC Ifeanyi Ubah ended in stalemate at the Soccer Temple Agege Stadium on Sunday. Christian Nnaji opened score for the visitors in the 6th minute before Adeniji Kabir equalised for the Olukoya Boys in the 37th minute.

It was the same situation at the Akure Stadium as Sunshine Stars came from behind to snatch a draw in the game against Warri Wolves. Charles Upele had shot the Seasiders into the lead in the 30th minute before Owena Waves got an equalizer through Israel Abia six minutes later to share the spoil.

It was one all draw between Adamawa United and Rangers International FC of Enugu at the Pantami Stadium. The Flying Antelopes lead through substitute Dauda Madaki who fires into the roof of the net from close range. Sadiq Lawan leveled score for Adamawa United in the 74th minute to end the game 1-1. 

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, Enyimba FC held Katsina United to a 1-1 draw. Tasiu Lawal gives the hosts the lead from the penalty spot in the 3rd minute before the home boy leveled things for the defending champions, Ma
rtins Usule found the back of the net from individual effort.

A late minute goal saved Rivers United from home defeat at the Yakub Gowon Stadium in Port-Harcourt. Christian Pyagbara gave the visitors a 15th minute lead but Bakaye Bamba scored from the spot on his second attempt deep into stoppage time to restore parity for Rivers United. Bamba strikes the spot kick against the post but the center referee ordered for a retake for what he calls an infringement. He retakes the spot kick and scored for Rivers United at the death.
