Contractor
handling Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, Reform Sports West Africa, has
hinted that the pitch would be ready for use soon.
The Chief
Executive Officer of the company, Mike Adamu said that the relaying of the
artificial turf at the stadium has been completed, adding that the company has
done some corrections at the stadium to give it international outlook.
“The relaying of the artificial turf at the
stadium has been completed and everywhere is green now,” Adamu explained. “No
deadline was given to us by our client but we are putting everything to work in
ensuring that we complete the work within ten days.
“In fact, we
are working assiduously to see that Wikki Tourists return home to play home
game at the stadium next week to appreciate their efforts for what they have
done in the new NPFL campaign. And we want the home fans to enjoy their darling
team again.”
ATBS’s pitch
is being re-laid by the Bauchi State Government. It is the first time in 20
years that the pitch will be re-laid- since it was used for the hosting of the
FIFA U17 World Cup, Nigeria ’99.
The state
home team, Wikki Tourists, have been using Pantami Stadium, Gombe for their
home matches since the renovation work started at the stadium.
