Olympic
Eagles played a goalless draw against Cameroon in a tune up game on Tuesday as
part of the preparation for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Egypt
between November 8 and 22, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The game was
more than a friendly encounter as both sides gave everything to the match. It
was a battle of the titans as the two teams tried all tactics to outshine each
another but it was ended in stalemate.
The Olympic
Eagles head coach Imama Amapakabo used the game to know the strength of his
boys ahead of their opening game against Cote d’ Ivoire on November 19 while
Cameroon U23 head coach Rigobert Song also used the match to access his wards
ahead of the competition.
Nigeria will
play in group B alongside Ivory Coast and South Africa while Cameroon were
drawn alongside host nation Egypt, Ghana and Mali in Group A of the tournament.
The
tournament will determine which three African teams that will compete at the
2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Japan.

understands that 18 players are already in the camp of the Nigeria team while
the like of Josiah Chukwudi, Azubuike Okechukwu and Taiwo Awoniyi are still
been expected.
Speaking after
the game, Olympics Eagles captain, Kelechi Nwakali admitted that it was a good
game.
“Good
friendly game today against Cameroon and also nice seeing a legend RIGOBERT
SONG,” Nwakali said.
