Court of Appeal Upholds Giwa FC Expulsion from NPFL

The Court of Appeal, Jos Division, has struck down the order of the High Court of Plateau State directing the League Management Company (LMC) to compulsorily re-instate Giwa FC to the Nigeria Professional Football (NPFL), after the Jos based Club had been expelled from the NPFL for multiple infractions of the Rules and Framework of the League in the 2015/16 season.

The Court of Appeal, Jos Division which sat on Monday has directed that there should be no attempt to tamper with the subject matter of the appeal file by the League Management Company (LMC) against the orders of Justice I.I. Kunda of the Plateau State High Court, Jos. This is even as the Inspector General of Police on Monday increased Police presence at the premises of the LMC to protect the staff and its activities.

League Management Company officials – Chairman, Shehu Dikko and Chief Operating Officer Salisu Abubakar – have been served with a contempt of court charge for deliberately disobeying the order of a court of a competent jurisdiction ordering the stoppage of the Nigeria Premier Football League, until Giwa FC of Jos is reinstated.

Court order: League will go on, says LMC

Fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will continue to hold as scheduled, according to a statement by the League Management Company (LMC) released on Friday. The LMC said it was among several other grounds, relying on the motion filed for stay of execution of Mr. Justice I.I Kunda's latest order made in disregard of the notice of appeal filed against his first order.

NFF issue provisional clearance for Giwa FC players

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have issued a provisional clearance to all players of Giwa FC, who have been expelled from the Nigeria professional Football League. According to a letter signed by NFF general secretary, Mohammed Sanusi on Monday and directed to the chairman of League Management Company (LMC), Shehu Diko, the players are to return to the Jos club at the end of the season.

Giwa FC of Jos has been expelled from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for multiple infractions of the Framework and Rules of the NPFL, particularly for violation of B13.28 which prescribes expulsion from the league for any club that fails to honour three matches cumulatively within a season with no acceptable reason to the League Management Company (LMC).

LMC threaten to expel Giwa FC

Giwa FC has again been fined and also warned that it stands to be expelled from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) if it fails to honour a third consecutive fixture having missed two already.

The latest sanction on the Jos-based club was contained in a Summary Jurisdiction notice issued by the League Management Compnay (LMC) following the non-appearance of Giwa FC in Ilorin for the Match Day 16 fixture against Akwa United.

Giwa FC will honour their week 15 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash against Abia Warriors in Umuahia, it has been confirmed.

The Jos Elephants missed their two previous league matches against Rangers International of Enugu and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
