The corpse
of Kano Pillars defender Chinedu Udoji was taken to Awka, Anambra State this
morning in preparation for a proper burial, Sportinglens.blogspot.com understands.
Udoji died
on Sunday evening in a ghastly motor accident along club’s road, bompai, Kano,
on his way back home after his visit to Enyimba FC players at their hotel.
The lanky
defender displayed a man-of-the-match performance in the matchday9 of the
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter between Kano Pillars and
Enyimba FC at the Sani Abacha stadium, Kofamata, Kano on Sunday which ended
1-1.
The club’s
technical adviser, Ibrahim Musa revealed Sportinglens.blogspot.com that the
players and officials are devastated with Udoji’s demise.
Musa informed that Udoji’s parent arrived in
Kano from Kaduna yesterday evening to receive his corpse.
The coach
added that his colleagues are still in shock with the news. He said the players
were addressed at the team’s training session on Tuesday morning.
“It was the
will of God and we thank God for his life well spend. He was full of life
during the game on Sunday and nobody would have pre-empt things like that. His
parent arrived in Kano yesterday evening and his corpse was moved to Anambra
State this morning,” Musa told Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
“Our players
are down and we have to psyche them up in the training this morning to bring
their mind back to the game. I can tell you that they are very scared and they
can’t play in that situation. They have to accept it as the will of God and
tell them to pray for his soul.”
