Isaac Ekpo
will face Tyron Zeuge in a WBA World Super Middleweight Title rematch in
Hamburg on March 24.
Ekpo
challenged the German Zeuge for the title at the MBS Arena, Potsdam last year
but lost to a controversial fifth round technical decision.
The fight
was stopped because Zeuge suffered a cut from an accidental head-butt by Ekpo
in round three. Zeuge had done enough through five rounds to build a small
lead.
Ekpo’s team
requested for a rematch which was granted but Zeuge had to face Paul Smith from
England in an optional title defense fight.
The rematch
was originally supposed to take place on December 2, was postponed due to Zeuge
being ill.
Ekpo, an
officer with the Nigerian Army, is a former WBO Africa and Commonwealth Super Middleweight
champion and has won 32 fights and lost three since he beat Razak Gbadebo at
the National Stadium in Lagos on his professional debut in 2005.
Zuege has been
undefeated in 22 fights and he has held the WBA Super-Middleweight title since
2016.
