Super Eagles
and Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho could feature against Brighton
despite breaking his hand on international duty with Nigeria.
Iheanacho fell
and fractured his first metacarpal bone, which ruled him out of Nigeria’s
defeat to Serbia on Tuesday night.
The former
Manchester City forward returned to Leicester duty on Thursday and Claude Puel
said that the club would assess the 21-year-old to see if he could play through
the injury.
Jamie Vardy
famously played with a lightweight cast on his hand during the title-winning
season after breaking his wrist.
“We will see
about Iheanacho because he has a broken hand,” confirmed Puel in his pre-match
press conference. “We will see if he can play with his injury. We will see
tomorrow (Friday) in the training session.
“I think he fell. It’s not an important
injury. We will see if this injury prevents him from playing in this game.
Perhaps it might be strange for him to play with a cast.”
