Zubairu happy with Wikki Tourists progress

By Taofeek Babalola

Wikkki Tourists head coach Aliyu Zubairu is delighted with the progress made by his side in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

The Big Elephants recorded a big win over Rivers United in the matchday 11 clash at their adopted home ground, Pantami Stadium in Gombe on Sunday.

Abba Umar and Issa Gata goals were all Wikki Tourists needed to secure maximum three points at stake in the encounter.

Speaking after the game,  Zubairu praised his wards for the win while identifying Christian Weli's first half miss as the turning point in the game.

“Rivers United is a very experienced side. We were lucky because they had the first chance of the game and if they had taken their opportunities, particularly the first chance of the game when one of their players (headed wide from close range), it could have been a different game.
“Our team has been making progress match by match and it showed (on Sunday) against Rivers United,” Zubairu said.
