By Taofeek Babalola

Wikki Tourists FC technical adviser Usman Abdallah has said that his side would be a force to be reckoned with in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign.

Wikki Tourists, which was on the verge of relegation last term before Abdallah took over, ended the season on 14th position following the adoption of point per game system by the League Management Company (LMC).

The former Enyimba FC gaffer said he has recruited experienced and quality players that will help the team achieve its set target for the season.

He said that the new players would be unveiled to the fans very soon.

“What we are trying to do is to assemble a team that will be among the contestants for the league title,” Abdallah said.

He added: “We don't want to be a push over team that will be in the middle of the table or battling to escape relegation. This time around we want to rub shoulders with the top teams in Nigeria.

“Therefore the recruitment will be of experience players who have tested the league victory and still have the urge to win more laurels. They will be mingled with the young vibrant players who will be unveiled at the appropriate time.”

Abdallah stressed that the camp will open for the players’ resumption as soon as the ban on contact Sports is lifted by the Federal Government.

The Kano State-born manager appealed to the teeming supporters of the club to exercise more patience while he solicited for the support and understanding of all, particularly the State Government who is the sole financier of the team.
