FC Ifeanyi Ubah eyes Lobi Stars scalp

FC Ifeanyi Ubah will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they take on Lobi Stars on Wednesday in a Federation Cup round 32 encounter at the UJ Esueme Stadium in Calabar.

Ahead of the counter, Chairman of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Chukwuma Ubah has disclosed that nothing short of a win will be acceptable.

Chukwuma said that victory will help to make up for the back-to-back loses in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

“We hope to make up for the losses in our recent matches by getting a win in tomorrow’s match.”

The chairman also disclosed that he has had a word with the players who are aware of the importance of Wednesday’s match.

After losing its first two games of the return stanza of the 2015/16 NPFL season, the Anambra Warriors' chairman asked for patience from the FC Ifeanyi Ubah fans.

“All I can say to the fans and supporters of FC Ifeanyi Ubah is to keep faith in us. We are working very hard to assemble a strong team, already we have very good players, and all we need is to be patient.”

Also speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Federation Cup, FC Ifeanyi Ubah full back, Wilson Elu has said that the team spirit is great.

Elu said that the fact that the team are yet to win in their last two games is enough motivation for the players going into tomorrow’s game.

''To tell you the truth we are in very high spirit, the defeat to Nasarawa and the fact that the Federation Cup is a one off game, is enough motivation for tomorrow’s game.”

Elu also said that the players have gotten over the weekend’s defeat to Nasarawa United.

"Against Nasarawa, we played well, but its was just one of those things where things don’t go your way. We just have to up our game a little bit and am sure we will get a result."

The team had their final training session at the UJ Esueme Stadium in Calabar, however, Gata Adeshina and Loute Isaac won’t be available as they are cup tied.

Also unavailable for tomorrow’s match is Captain Thompson Emmanuel, who is still not fit for action and Chibuzor Okonkwo who has been given a well-deserved rest ahead of Sunday’s NPFL clash with Rivers United.
