Stars technical adviser Mohammad Baba Ganaru has expressed fears that his team
may lose majority of its key players in the ongoing mid-season transfer window
of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Ganaru
exclusively told SportingLife.ng that he has been approached by some of the
players of their intention to leave the club.
The former
Kano Pillars manager blamed it on the poor salary they are receiving.
“My fear in
this mid-season transfer window is that most of our key players will leave the
club because of the salary. It is a small club and they don’t pay big like
other big clubs in the league” Ganaru said to SportingLife.ng.
“Majority of
them were established players before coming here and are doing very well for
the club since the beginning of the season. Some of them have approached me
that they want to leave and I have told them that anybody that wants to go
should inform me so that I will start preparing for their exit. All I know is that I won’t stop anybody from
leaving. I have discussed the situation with the Director of Sports and his
response was that he won’t stop any player from leaving the club.”
The former
Wikki Tourists manager added that the players’ exit will affect the team’s
performance in the second stanza.
“Although, I
have started making my contacts to bring in new players but I must confess to
you that the situation is not encouraging. It will definitely affect our plans
because the players have understood my philosophy of play and it will take time
for the new players to adapt to our style of play. So I am in serious dilemma,”
Ganaru said.
