Rangers International FC coach Fedelis Ilechukwu has said he would continue to work on his young squad and make them a formidable force to compete at the top by the end of the season, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The Flying
Antelopes were held to a goalless by a resilient Kun Khalifat FC in a highly
entertaining Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 1 encounter at the
Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday in Enugu.
The squad
featured a mix of new faces, with only Odoh Joel, Evans Ogbonda, Austin Opara
and Ogbodo Kelechi from the previous season's squad.
Despite
their dominance in the game, Rangers failed to convert their chances as the
visitors' defense, arranged by coach Uzoho Obinna held firm.
Speaking after
the match, Ilechukwu rued his boys' missed chances in the game, insisting that they
will get it right soon.
"It
was a great game that we could have wrapped up in the first half but for some
missed opportunities. We will continue to work on the team, as you can see, we
have almost a completely new squad and I believe we have what it takes to
compete at the top by the end of the season. Our opponents, as you can see,
were more united in their play, largely because they have been together since
their NNL days, and I congratulate them on the result. We will get it right
before long," Ilechukwu said.
