Adebayor blames his family for scuppering Real Madrid move

Emmanuel Adebayor believes he could have sealed a permanent switch to Real Madrid in the summer of 2011 were it not for a letter his late brother sent the Spanish club. The former Arsenal striker joined Madrid on loan from Manchester City in January that year, scoring five goals in 14 La Liga appearances under Jose Mourinho while helping the club lift the Copa del Rey.

Knee injury prevents Bakayoko from Chelsea training
