Ex-Green
Eagles captain, Christian Chukwu has been appointed as the new general Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Rangers International of Enugu.
Chukwu’s
appointment is with immediate effect. The former club’s captain and coach was
until his appointment the Technical Director of the club. He took over from the former GM Ozor
Chibuzor.
The Enugu
State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi held a fact-finding meeting with the board, management,
players, supporters club and other stakeholders of the club and it was
unanimously agreed that there was need for a change in the management of the
club.
The Governor
after the meeting announced Chukwu’s appointment as the new General Manager and
Chief Executive Officer of the club.
The decision
was not unconnected with the unimpressive performance of the club this season
which has been a source of concern for the state government, supporters and
other stakeholders of the club.
Reacting to
the development, Chukwu thanked the governor for the appointment and his prompt
intervention and promised to put in his best to ensure that Rangers retains its
current status in Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Chukwu was a
former player, captain as well as coach of the team.
The league
champions are currently on 11th position on the log, having amassed
6 points from a possible 15 in the five matches played so far.
