Wikki
Tourists General Manager Auwalu Baba Jada has commended his team’s preparation
for the forthcoming Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) which kicks off
January 14 despite their exit from the ongoing Ahlan Cup pre-season tournament
in Kano, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The Big
Elephants were eliminated from the Ahlan Cup pre-season tournament on Wednesday
after their 1-1 draw with Akwa United in their last game. Wikki Tourists played
five matches, winning one, drawing three and lost one.
The northern
outfit which featured 48 players during the campaign paraded three set of teams
for different games.
Baba Jada
said his team was not in Kano to win the tournament but to fine-tune their
preparation for the new season, expressing his convention that his wards will
do well next season.
“We had
three teams; Team A, Team B and Team C during the tournament and it gave us the opportunity to assess our players. I commended the players and technical crew
for their outstanding performances. It was a friendly encounter and it was a good
avenue to prepare for the new season. With what I saw during the competition, I
can say that we are ready for the league kick-off. I thank the state Governor
Mohammad A Abubakar for his support to the team and we will try and justify the
government investment on the team. I want our fans to believe in this team and
continue praying for their success,” Baba Jada said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
