Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia manager, Rafael Everton has revealed that his team is well prepared to face Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Football Club of Lagos in one of the opening games of the 2017/18 Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) which starts on January 14.

The Brazilian tactician while reacting to the match day one fixture described the encounter as exciting as both teams play attractive football.

The former FC IfeanyiUbah gaffer said he has watched the MFM in many of their pre-season friendlies, noted that that the Lagos based side is good and should not be treated with kids gloves.

"I respect MFM as a team. I have watched many of their Pre-season friendlies including their game against Nigeria's CHAN Super Eagles last Sunday in Kano and I think they have a good team made up of young, talented players and pioneered by a good coach as well, my brother", Fidelis (Ilechukwu) who I also respect," Everton said.

According to him, his team is aware that the first match of the season is usually very difficult, pointing out that as a continental bound team, MFM will try to prove a point in Umuahia but insisted that Abia Warriors getting all the available three points at home will be pivotal.

"Getting all the three points in the first match is always important and we will work hard to ensure we beat MFM in Umuahia," he added.

On his overall target this season, the former Fluminense of Brazil playmaker, said he would like to qualify the team for the continental next season, revealing that with the quality of players and management at his disposal, he has no doubt the target would be met.
