By Taofeek Babalola

Newly appointed chairman of Niger Tornadoes, Abubakar Mustapha Gawu has assured club’s fans that Ikon Allah will play their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) home matches at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna this season.

The Ikon Allah has been playing all its home games at their adopted home ground at the Confluence Stadium, Kogi State for the past two seasons.

Gawu confirmed to SportingLife that the State Government under Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has given a financial support to ensure that the ongoing renovation at the stadium is completed before their first home match.

“Right now, the first task before us is to ensure that the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Manna is ready to host our home games. I can confirm to you that the state government has given financial backing to the project. Actually, it was not as if the stadium was in the bad condition but it is the turf that needed to be worked on which is nearly completion now.

“We are working seriously to make everything available. We have also invited the League Management Company (LMC) for inspection. I am very confident that the stadium will be ready for our first home game. I want to thank the State Governor for the opportunity giving to this board to serve the state and the club,” Gawu said to SportingLife.

He added:  “Insha Allah, we want to do better than what was done before us. We will ensure that everything is done professionally. We also call on the club’s fans to give their 100 per cent support to the team and the board. We won’t disappoint them.”
