Mohammad
Yusuf has declared himself “convinced” that this Kano Pillars team will be
challenging for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title this
season, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The former
Dream Team goalkeeper’s optimism is founded on the belief that there is greater
first-team strength following the recruitment of quality players in the
transfer window.
Yusuf, who
is spending his ten seasons with the team, revealed to Sportinglens.blogspot.com that the Pyramid
City outfit has sufficient strength to end what will be a 3-year wait to win
the League.
The Kano
Pillars won the title three times in a row, having won the 2011/2012, 2012/2013
and 2013/2014 seasons.
He believes
his team has all it takes to beat their neighbour, Katsina United in the league
opener on January 14 at the Katsina Stadium.
“We have
really prepared very well because we participated in three different pre-season
tournaments and we won two. The new signing is a plus to us because they have
good qualities and characters. Our target is to win the league title or at
least get a continental ticket. The match against Katsina United will be an
interesting game but we have a better team than them. So by the grace of God we
will get three points in the game. I am very hopeful that this season will be a
nice outing for me too,” Yusuf said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
