Nigeria
qualified for the quarter finals as the Group C leaders, after defeating
Equatorial Guinea 3-1 in the last group game on Tuesday at the multi-use
stadium, Agadir.
In a chat
with SportingLife, Salisu said he will respect all the teams in the tournament,
stressing that his boys are not scared of any team in the tournament.
"As far as I am
concerned, I have respect for all the teams in this tournament. Every team at
this stage deserve our respect and we are ready to face any team at any
stage," Salisu said to SportingLife.
The former
Kano Pillars manager has also expressed happiness over his team's victory over
Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday.
Salisu
admitted that Nzalang Nacional gave his team a good fight during the game on
Tuesday.
"I was
not worried when we were down with one goal because I know football finish at
90 minutes and we can score at any time. We remained positive and created more
chances and we came back to the game. Remembered I said before the game that
the match won't be easy against Equatorial Guinea because they have a young
team that ready to fight and they gave us a tough time.
"We
gave them lots of chances to play maybe the boys thought the game would be an
easy game. But I thank God that we came back to the game and we won. We have
learned our lesson not to take any game very easy.
"I was
assistant coach in 2016 when we crashed out at this stage, we were leading the
group and needed to win our last game but we lost and crashed out of the
tournament. I thank God we scaled through this time."
