Ibrahim Musa urges LMC to curtail fans' trouble at match venues

By Taofeek Babalola

Kano Pillars coach Ibrahim Musa has urged the League Management Company (LMC) to do everything within their power to curtail fans’ trouble at the match venues, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

Musa stated this against the backdrop of the fans’ unrest after Saturday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) opener between Katsina United and Kano Pillars at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium, Katsina and the policemen had to use tear gas to disperse them.  The game ended 2-2.

Junior Lokosa scored the first goal of the season three minutes after the half-hour to give Pillars the lead before Ajana Chinedu’s header levelled score for Katsina United in the 45th minute.

Pillars took the lead again through Alassan Ibrahim, who smashed home a screamer to beat Dami Paul in Katsina’s goal. Destiny Ashadi scored a penalty in injury time for the home side to force Sai Masu Gida to a 2-2 draw.

In a chat with SportingLife, Musa urged the organisers of the league to redouble their efforts in taking severe measures that would prevent some of the stakeholders that are not interested in the progress of the league.

“I want to commend my boys for their fighting spirit in the match. I don't want to complain about the officiating because they (referees) are human but in the other way round let them be reminded that whatever they do there is a day to accounting for it.
"It’s unfortunate that after the match fans started throwing stones, bottles and other objects which made the policemen in the stadium to use tear gas to disperse them before the players and officials of the two teams gained access to their dressing rooms.
"This is the beginning of the season and there is need to put head together by the football stakeholders. The organizers need to fight any move that is going to destroy our league,” Musa said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

Musa has however, charged his players to forget what happened in Katsina and focus on their next game against Nasarawa United on Wednesday at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

He added that Sai Masu Gida was in Katsina with mission of collecting three points but ended with one point which he said is not bad.
