Rivers Angels' Adaobi Okah was full of excitement for the point gotten in Asaba as she heaped praises on her teammate, Adjei for being the heroine of the day in the last matchday of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership (NWFLP), Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
Rivers
Angels and Delta Queens played inside the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on
Wednesday ended 1-1.
Delta Queens
drew the first blood in the 17th minute through Favour Damaris from close range
Okah however equalised for Rivers Angels in the 58th minute through a freekick
delivery from Ifeoma Polinus after the Delta defence failed to clear their
lines as it then ended in a draw.
Goalscorer
for the Jewel of Rivers, Okah expressed happiness for the result and commended
her teammates for their team’s spirit during the game.
She said: "I
am quite happy with the draw we got because after they drew in our home, they
promised to beat us in Asaba and said we don't have a good team and that our
qualification was simply down to luck so we had to come here to prove to them
and the entire world that we worked hard to get the Super 6 ticket.
"Our
goalkeeper did an amazing job today, I was really overwhelmed by her
performance and the entire team is so proud of her today. The defenders also
gave it their all and I'm so proud of the team work in the game.”
Meanwhile,
Rivers Angels will begin their 2023 Federation Cup campaign against Golden Sun
of Bayelsa State in a yet to be disclosed venue on April 26.
The
eight-time Cup Champions pulled out of last season's campaign but are now
looking forward to reclaiming the title this time around.
