.Insists Top 3 Finish Still Realistic
The Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan, has charged the fans of the club to troop out in their large numbers to cheer the team to victory in the Matchday 13 fixture against visiting Remo Stars of Ikenne.
Featuring on a popular radio sport programme, the 3SC helmsman, who appreciated the
supporters and fans for travelling to Akure for last Sunday's matchday 12
against Kwara United, said their presence at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday
will boost the players' confidence against Remo Stars.
"I want to appeal to our fans to come out in large
numbers to cheer us to victory on Sunday and we promise to give them the
desired result".
He however appealed to them to eschew any form of violence
before, during and after the match, stressing that the club cannot afford to
lose any valuable points at this point in time.
Akoro, as the retired referee is fondly called,, insisted
that the Oluyole Warriors' hope of finishing among the top three teams in Group
A of the NPFL abridge league was still possible.
"We are not losing hope as far as picking a continental
ticket is concerned. Finishing in the top three is still very much possible. We
are on course and I'm sure we will make it" declared the 3SC boss
Honourable Olaniyan, who was accompanied to the programme by
the Director of Administration and Supply, Alhaji Rahman Olapade, also cleared
the air on some other issues regarding the club, including the Dozy Mmobuosi
Pre Tourney Prize money, the participation of the club's feeder team and the
U-15 side in the NLO and the NPFL/Laliga Promise Youth League respectively, the
issue of website, as well as the relationship between the club and every other
stakeholder in the state.
He praised the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for
transforming the Lekan Salami Stadium wiithin his first two years in office,
making it conducive to host the club's home matches.
