Ex-internationals Tijani Babangida and Idah Peterside will serve as “in-house” coaches/mentors for the young players in the new football scouting reality TV show “Last Team Standing”.

“Last Team Standing” is a football scouting reality TV show in Nigeria open to young players between the ages of 16 and 22 in a bid to identify their talents, exposed them to international scouts and empower the youth.

The show is a road map to the opportunities to become professional footballers and it’s a concept of Osaslo Media.

According to the organizers, the show will identify and scouts for talents from different regions across Nigeria where trials will be conducted and the “Last Team Standing” from each state would then be eligible to attend the final “TRAINING CAMP” in Lagos where they will be all housed for 30 days doing numerous activities related to football, team building, socials, mental health etc.

The trails and screening exercise, which will be conducted in 12 zones, will commence in June for four weeks.

However, teams will be knocked out every week to get the LAST TEAM STANDING (Champion).

Similarly, outside the incentive of some of the players getting recruited by international scouts, the last team standing will win a cash prize of N12m and a chance to go on a training tour of soccer academies in Spain.

The event is said to run on TV stations across the country, Rootz Sports channel and other international TV platforms.

Speaking about the show, Idah stated that the programme is an avenue to discover new talents for the national teams.

“If you can play football, we will find you and bring the best out of you. It is a show where we will discover new players for Nigeria that everyone would be proud of,” Idah said.

Speaking in the same vein, Babangida said: “I am happy to be part of this programme. We will use our experience to mentor and nature them.”
