Three
Nigerians have been included by the organisers of the prestigious Golden Boy
award, which is given to the best player under the age of 21 in Europe.
Dele Alli of
Tottenham Hotspur who is of Nigerian descent but plays for England was
nominated alongside Nigeria international Alex Iwobi of Arsenal and Manchester
City super teen Kelechi Iheanacho.
The trio
will however beat off competition from other highly rated youngsters in Europe
like Kingsley Coman and Renato Sanchez of Bayern Munich. Iheanacho teammate
Leroy Sane was also nominated for his exploit while at Schalke 04.
Other
players nominated from the English Premier League includes Demarai Gray of
Leicester City, Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Chelsea and Liverpool’s Marko Grujic.
While Manchester United Anthony Martial is the current holder of the TuttoSport
award.
